That's right. I actually went out on a week night... to something that started later than 6... and stayed out late. I seem to be becoming an old lady and I want my beauty rest. You don't get close to 30 and keep your looks by hitting the town every night. Then again, who needs looks... Oh right, I'm single. I still need my looks. :-)

I read about this group last week and was intrigued. I thought that I had parent teacher conferences this night but found out that day that they were Wednesday and Thursday. Hooray! So my friend Garrett and I met up to adventure to a concert venue neither of us had been to.

The Portland Cello Project was created to try and get the cello into venues that it is not normally showcased. They play classical, contemporary, and top 40 covers including Kanye West's "All of the Lights."

The show opener was Laura Gibson. Her stylings had a twist of Ingrid Michaelson's mood mixed with Adele's lilting voice.

Throwback

Listening to the radio this morning, 101.5 the eagle mentioned a concert that anyone would have a "heart" attack over. We might go "deaf" from the volume, but don't we all long for the 80's? Or at least some 80's flashbacks...

That's right, drum roll... Def Leppard & Heart are coming to Utah August 31st. Now, we all have plenty of time to prepare our bangles, headbands, and florescent attire, so start searching yard sales and DI this summer. Although its hard to believe that people actually want to get rid of neon & leg warmers, you can find smashing deals if you search.

I'll be honest, my memory suffers and I don't remember much of the 80's but who doesn't know the styles. If we didn't grow up in the 80's (or remember it much in my case), we've had 80's parties on a regular basis. I remember more of the 90's with pegged jeans and 2 pairs of different colored socks rolled over one another.

Oquirrh Mountain Symphony

Coming soon will be the first performance for me with the Oquirrh Mountain Symphony. Back at BYU, I auditioned into the BYU Symphony but it was hard to keep it going throughout my entire time there since I wasn't a music major. Too many classes overlapped with the symphony's time so I only was able to be in it about every other semester. We performed in the pit orchestra for The Music Man and also to accompany music majors performing their final arias. The experience was amazing and the music inspiring, so I am glad to be FINALLY back into performing.

Our concert showcases many well known pieces featured in cartoons and commercials over the years.

There is a concert on Saturday, March 5th @ 11 am at Jordan Commons. I believe that it is $12 for breakfast, the concert and then you get to see the new movie Rango. Should be fun.

I have been told that if you go to the website there are 2 for 1 coupons, but I couldn't find them. Just tell them when you purchase your tickets that they weren't on the website.
